hard to believe, eh? it's unfortunate that my camera is currently out of commission, or else i would have celebrated the new year by playing Auld Lang Syne for you. but what can you do? the camera miraculously worked until the end of my trip to germany, so really, i can't complain.
on to the music. practiced my scales G, C, D and F. they are sounding better as i'm getting used to the sharps and flats. then moved on to book two, and worked on the first couple pages. i've also gotten closer to mastering Be Thou My Vision, which makes for a beautiful melody on the saxophone (not to mention a wonderful song). in fact, as i repeated the song, i closed my eyes and simply let the words of the song be my prayer for the coming year:
be Thou my vision, oh Lord of my heart!
naught be all else to me, save that thou art!
Thou my best thought, by day or by night.
waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light!
be thou my Wisdom, thou my true Word
i ever with Thee, Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, i thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and i with Thee one.
riches i heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
high King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of heaven, my victory won,
may i reach heaven's joys, oh bright heav'ns Son!
heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be my vision, oh Ruler of all.
that is all.
